If every Shapefile has the same attributes and data types and should be appended into one table, create the table from the first file and use <option>-a</option> for the remaining files.

To load a directory of Shapefiles, run the loader once per file and derive the table name from the file name. On Windows <filename>cmd.exe</filename>, use a single percent sign interactively and double percent signs in a batch file:

Some commonly used spatial reference systems are: <link xlink:href="http://spatialreference.org/ref/epsg/4326/">4326 - WGS 84 Long Lat</link>, <link xlink:href="http://spatialreference.org/ref/epsg/4269/">4269 - NAD 83 Long Lat</link>, <link xlink:href="http://spatialreference.org/ref/epsg/3395/">3395 - WGS 84 World Mercator</link>, <link xlink:href="http://spatialreference.org/ref/epsg/2163/">2163 - US National Atlas Equal Area</link>, and the 60 WGS84 UTM zones. UTM zones are one of the most ideal for measurement, but only cover 6-degree regions. For WGS84 longitude/latitude data, the UTM zone is <varname>least(floor((longitude + 180) / 6) + 1, 60)</varname>; the EPSG code is <varname>32600 + zone</varname> in the northern hemisphere or <varname>32700 + zone</varname> in the southern hemisphere.
