We'll name our server **PostGIS**. In the Connection tab, enter the ``Host name/address``. If you're working with a local PostgreSQL install, you'll be able to use ``localhost``. If you're using a cloud service, you should be able to retrieve the host name from your account.
命名服务器为 **PostGIS**. 在连接选项卡中，输入 ``Host name/address``（主机名或地址）。如果你用的是本地安装的 PostgreSQL，可以填 ``localhost``. 如果用的是云端数据库，你可以登陆上去后找到对应的主机名。
Leave **Port** set at ``5432``, and both **Maintenance database** and **Username** as ``postgres``. The **Password** should be what you specified with a local install or with your cloud service.
把 **Port**（端口）设为 ``5432``（默认值），把 **Maintenance database** 和 **Username** 设为 ``postgres``. **密码** 是你安装时填写的密码。
Creating a Database
创建一个数据库
Open the Databases tree item and have a look at the available databases. The ``postgres`` database is the user database for the default postgres user and is not too interesting to us.
打开数据库树，查看可用的数据库。名为 ``postgres`` 数据库是默认用户 postgres 自己维护的数据库，对我们来说没什么用。
Right-click on the ``Databases`` item and select ``New Database``.
右键点击 ``Database`` 项，选择 ``New Database``.
Fill in the ``Create Database`` form as shown below and click **OK**.
和下面表格一样填写 ``Create Database`` 表单，然后点击 **OK**.

Select the new ``nyc`` database and open it up to display the tree of objects. You'll see the ``public`` schema.

Click on the SQL query button indicated below (or go to *Tools > Query Tool*).

Click the **Play** button in the toolbar (or press **F5**) to "Execute the query."
